in-class artists

Virgilio Martinez is inspired by nature for his dishes, and they all have their own unique attribute.  Grant Achatz connects with his team after having a creative idea to make it a reality and thinks outside the box on all of his dishes. Thom Browne has a very unique take on fashion and I like how he doesn't let gender define clothing styles and how he uses shapes as his sketches.

Character Lighting

The mood in these pictures is very different because one is eerie and one feels more  like the character is afraid.

Emerge

Image
In this exercise, everyone had a unique perspective on how to emerge from their "egg". The first time we all ran through our movements, I fell down quickly and stayed on my stomach because the count was almost over. This lead to me thinking that I could emerge into that position on purpose and give my piece a  serpent-y vibe. I found a way to turn a mistake into art, and I was actually pretty pleased with myself.

Reflecting on the "Creativity Test"

Image
To me, the test we took was not entirely about creativity. While the main goal was to write 10 words that are as different as humanly possible, some people had certain advantages. I'm not saying because someone has a higher or lower score on that test than I had that they are more or less creative, I'm just saying that some people might have had it a bit easier if they read more than others, or if English is their first language.

Walking the Space

Image
1.) I noticed that people moved more slowly as the lights went dimmer because people were becoming more aware of their surroundings and that the sound of walking became quieter. 2.) When the white lights came on, people stayed out of the light, but when the red light came on, people moved towards it. 3.) Everyone would collectively decide to follow someone at one point or another and then we'd break off and follow someone else. 4.) I was surprised that even in the dark, people were going up and down the steps.

4 words to describe me

Image
musical, lyrical, old fashioned, atypical Four words do little to describe a person. Then again, there are no said amount of letters strung together that can express a world full of unique individuals. However, a genuine idea about someone's personality can be shown through their choice of words.  There are multiple reasons why I chose these terms. Every one of these words fits together simultaneously because they all hint at the fact that I am a musician. My main focus in writing songs is usually lyrics because they are the simplest way for people to connect to music. Of course, the melody does matter, along with the instruments used to uplift a song, and that is why I also chose the word "musical". The reasoning for "old fashioned" is because I typically write in cursive and prefer to do work by hand, I love listening to "older" music, and I wear a lot of my grandmother's old jewelry. I chose "atypical" because, first of all, the show i...
